Great machine - w0rth the money!
After much research - I decided 0n getting the best machine 0n the market!I just received my Jiffy Steamer J-4000 Pr0-Line Series Garment Steamer a few days ag0, and quite frankly, I'm amazed at its effectiveness!
First 0f all, assembling it was incredibly simple - t00k n0 m0re than 5 minutes. The machine c0mes with n0 m0re than 4-5 pieces t0 put t0gether, and a wrench is included f0r free (s0 n0 extra pers0nal t00ls needed). It c0mes 0n casters f0r easily m0bility. It d0esn't take much st0rage space (20 inches wide - 10 inch depth).
It has 3 settings: 0ff, Preheat and Steam, s0 there is n0 c0mplicati0n. Als0, it has aut0matic shut-0ff - and the best part: if y0u're planning t0 use it thr0ugh0ut the day, y0u can leave it 0n preheat t0 c0nserve water! Just switch t0 steam when ready and y0u're ready t0 steam immediately!
0nce assembled, y0u p0ur n0 m0re than 4 quarts 0f water (tap water 0r distilled water is fine) int0 the machine (while it's 0ff), then turn 0n, switch the setting t0 "pre-heat", then wait ab0ut 15 minutes. Y0u kn0w it's ready t0 be switched t0 "steam" when the indicat0r light starts blinking 0n and 0ff. Y0u then switch t0 steam and wait ab0ut 2 minutes f0r the steam t0 start. Then y0u're ready t0 g0 (and g0 and g0 - this machine is capable 0f 0ver 1.5 h0urs 0f steam time!)
Steaming the cl0thes is very simple. As y0u g0 al0ng, y0u'll find that s0me fabrics steam much easier than 0thers, and y0u'll learn different meth0ds 0f steaming different types 0f fabric. S0me fabrics d0 perfectly steaming fr0m the 0utside - s0me lend themselves better t0 the steaming pr0cess if y0u steam fr0m the INSIDE 0f the garment. 0ther fabrics take l0nger t0 steam, 0thers take 0nly a few minutes. But in all cases - h0ld the fabric taut with 0ne hand while steaming - helps rem0ve the wrinkles faster!
Just make sure y0u keep the steamhead in an upright p0siti0n when steaming s0 the c0ndensati0n can g0 back int0 the machine - if y0u d0n't d0 this - y0u'll hear a l0t 0f sputtering. T0 st0p the sputter, just place the steam head 0n its st0rage hanger and it will st0p immediately!
In additi0n t0 rem0ving wrinkles, this steamer helps rem0ve smells fr0m fabric!
The 0nly "sh0rtc0ming" ab0ut this machine is that steaming l0ng dresses is cumbers0me (but n0t imp0ssible). The steamer stands appr0x. 5 feet tall (I'm 5'2) - h0wever, l0ng garments/dresses call f0r y0u t0 get 0n y0ur knees 0r sit d0wn 0n the fl00r 0r chair t0 steam c0mf0rtably. H0wever, if y0u're sitting 0n the fl00r, after several minutes 0f steaming, y0u start t0 hear sputtering and then y0u have t0 st0p and place steamhead upright again. But the height might be industry standard. H0wever, s0 much g00d 0utweighs this small inc0nvenience, that I w0uld be willing t0 LAY D0WN 0n the fl00r t0 steam dresses!
In summary, I rec0mmend this machine 100%. D0n't settle f0r cheapies - in the l0ng run they may c0st y0u m0re t0 0wn than this "w0rkh0rse"!
